Jimmy Wayne is a former foster kid turned award-winning country recording artist whose songs and story highlight his mission to raise awareness for children in foster care. Jimmy’s hits include “Stay Gone,” “Paper Angels,” “I Love You This Much” and “Do You Believe Me Now,” which earned BMI’s prestigious Million-Air Award marking one million radio spins in America. In 2009, Jimmy toured with Brad Paisley and recorded “Sara Smile” with rock ‘n roll Hall of Fame duo Daryl Hall and John Oates.

In 2010, Jimmy walked halfway across America (from Nashville to Phoenix) to raise awareness for kids aging out of the foster-care system. In 2012, Jimmy helped get legislative bills passed extending the age of foster care to 21 in California, Tennessee, North Carolina and Ohio. In 2014, he released Walk to Beautiful: The Power of Love and a Homeless Kid Who Found the Way, a three-time New York Times bestselling memoir which quickly crossed the 100,000 print sales milestone. In 2016, he received the prestigious Points of Light award from President George W. Bush (41) and in 2017, he received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from William Woods University.

Jimmy has performed on the Grand Ole Opry more than 215 times. He lives in Nashville and continues to work tirelessly on behalf of at-risk foster youth by performing, writing books and keynote speaking. Jimmy’s ultimate goal is to build transitional homes for youth who age out of foster care without a place to live.

Jimmy’s third book — Ruby the Foster Dog — will release November 1 on BroadStreet Publishing.

Wendy Blake is from a dairy farm in Greensburg, Indiana, a rural town in the Southeastern part of the state. She graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Residential Property Management. After graduation she became a licensed real estate broker and worked for a couple of large management firms while living in Indianapolis. Feeling like a number disconnected from others in a big city she and her husband decided they wanted to return to Greensburg.

In the process of searching for a job in or close to Greensburg so they could relocate Wendy’s community pride and passion grew stronger and stronger as she was told repeatedly there is just nothing there. In 2015 she became the Executive Director for Main Street Greensburg and they relocated their family to Greensburg. Main Street Greensburg is a non-profit organization that creates a better community by focusing on the downtown district through promotion, design, economic development, and historic preservation. Through Main Street she has been involved in a several popular public art initiatives developed by the group, organized several events to bring people to the community, businesses recruitment/retention, and promotion of the community through the downtown district.

In addition to her role as the Director of Main Street Greensburg Wendy is an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and serves on the church Stewardship Committee, is a coach for Girls on the Run, and volunteers where she can for various community organizations. She has been married for 10 years, has two children, and a puppy.

Colleen M. Fisher has served as the Executive Director of The Council for Affordable and Rural Housing (CARH) since 1996. CARH represents the interests of over 300 companies that are involved in the building, development, financing, management and ownership of housing in rural areas across the country.

Prior to joining CARH, Ms. Fisher served for four years as Industry Relations Manager in the Resolution Trust Corporation’s (RTC) National Marketing Department in Washington, D.C. She was the principal liaison between the RTC and the various national real estate and financial services trade association groups and their members, and played a major role in the development of complex marketing campaigns which resulted in the sale of over $395 billion in real estate and loans throughout the country.

Ms. Fisher was Vice President for Government Relations for the National Apartment Association (NAA) from 1983-1991. She worked on major legislation that impacted the multi-housing industry in the tax, environmental and financial arenas. She was a Majority Professional Staff member on the United States Senate Appropriations Committee, where she worked for former Senator Jake Garn (R-UT) on the HUD-VA and Independent Agencies Subcommittee. Ms. Fisher began her career in Washington as a Legislative Assistant for former Senator Richard S. Schweiker (R-PA).

Ms. Fisher serves on the board of directors for the National Affordable Housing Preservations Associates, Inc. (NAHPA), a national nonprofit dedicated to promoting the long-term preservation of rural housing properties throughout the United States. She is a former member of the Advisory Board for the Housing and Development Reporter (HDR) and Fannie Mae’s National Housing Advisory Council. She is a member of the Board of the Fredericksburg Festival of the Arts Council in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Gregory Howard currently serves as the Protective Security Advisor (PSA) for the Kentucky District, focused on promoting protection and resiliency of critical infrastructure in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Matt Rayburn is the Deputy Executive Director and Chief Real Estate Development Officer for the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA). In this position, he oversees IHCDA’s Real Estate Development department to ensure resources are used to accomplish agency priorities while complying with Federal and State regulations. This includes allocation and compliance oversight for the Low-income Housing Tax Credit, TCAP, HOME, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG and CDBG-D), Housing Trust Fund, Indiana Affordable Housing and Community Development Fund, and Housing Choice Voucher programs as well as planning, training, and technical assistance for the Indiana Supportive Housing Institute and other supportive housing initiatives. Matt is also the lead for IHCDA’s disaster recovery efforts and is designated as the State Disaster Housing Manager responsible for working with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security on planning committees and recovery efforts. Matt joined IHCDA in 2008 and previously held the positions of Deputy Director of Compliance and Asset Management, Compliance and Asset Manager, and Multi-Family Monitor.

Matt serves on the Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) Board of Governors and on the National Compliance Professional (NCP) and Affordable Housing Association of Indiana (AHAIN) advisory boards. He is also a Steering Committee member for the Back Home in Indiana Alliance, an organization dedicated to increasing the availability of affordable and accessible housing for persons with disabilities throughout Indiana.

Nicole expanded her skill set by mastering HUD’s Enterprise Income Verification (EIV) system when the system was initially created by HUD, and is gifted in her ability to explain this system to property staff who must integrate its use into their daily housing functions. She has been instrumental in designing and maintaining classroom and online EIV training used by housing management companies as well as trains and advises site staff on EIV security awareness and compliance. In addition to conducting training and answering EIV questions for clients, Nicole assists with income discrepancy resolutions and EIV repayment agreements.

Brenda Shaffer has been with USDA Rural Development (RD) for 11 years. She currently is a Multi-Family Housing Technician in the Muncie Office. Brenda began her career at RD in Single Family Housing and soon switched to Multi-Family Housing. She truly loves working in Multi-Family Housing because she enjoys being able to help others with their housing needs.

Previously she was employed as an Office Manager and Loan Originator for a manufactured housing dealership. In that position, she had a connection with RD as a retailer and doing construction loans for the dealership.

Brenda has two children, a daughter and a son that has passed away, a daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren. She is active in Special Olympics in Grant County with her daughter. She has coached and assisted athletes to the State Games in Terre Haute for over 20 years. Her experiences in working with the disabled has helped her to become familiar with the issues and needs they face on a daily basis. She is also involved in the Veteran’s Stand Down in our area. Mark first started working in affordable housing property management in 1981 and later became on owner in the company in 1984. Mark is responsible for the day to day operations of Valenti Real Estate Services with over 120 employees and providing property management services for over 85 properties located throughout Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.

Mark is a current board member of the Affordable Housing Association of Indiana, past board member of the Council for Affordable and Rural Housing and past board member of Indiana Apartment Association.

Mitch Walters, the President of Justus Property Management, Inc., has been involved in the property management business since 2008. Mitch received his Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) certificate in the fall of 2008 and today oversees the operations of Justus. Mitch is a project developer in the Section 42 Indiana tax credit program as well as a licensed Real Estate Broker in the state of Indiana.

Prior to joining Justus in June of 2008, Mitch spent seven years in the banking industry as a business lender with LaSalle and Key Bank. In 2005 Mitch was one of the top two business banking lenders for Key Bank in the entire United States.

Mitch is a graduate of NorthWood High School in Nappanee, Indiana as well as a graduate of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana.
