{"id":30748,"date":"2025-06-02T10:34:41","date_gmt":"2025-06-02T14:34:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.carh.org\/?p=30748"},"modified":"2025-06-02T10:34:41","modified_gmt":"2025-06-02T14:34:41","slug":"hud-hotma-final-rule-compliance-date-extended-to-january-1-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.carh.org\/hud-hotma-final-rule-compliance-date-extended-to-january-1-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"HUD: HOTMA Final Rule Compliance Date Extended to January 1, 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>On May 30, 2025, HUD&#8217;s Office of Multifamily Housing sent out the following information:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Today, the Office of Multifamily Housing Programs published a\u00a0<u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hud.gov\/sites\/dfiles\/OCHCO\/documents\/hsgN-25-03.pdf?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=govdelivery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Housing Notice<\/a><\/u>\u00a0extending the Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act of 2016 (HOTMA) compliance date from July 1, 2025,\u00a0<strong>to January 1, 2026,<\/strong>\u00a0for all owners participating in HUD Multifamily project-based rental assistance programs<strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0Full compliance with the HOTMA final rule and discretionary policies is mandatory for all certifications with a January 1, 2026, date or later.<\/p>\n<p>Owners may become fully compliant with HOTMA rules and regulations prior to January 1, 2026, by using the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hud.gov\/sites\/dfiles\/Housing\/documents\/Rent_Override.pdf?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=govdelivery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rent override function<\/a>\u00a0in the Tenant Rental Assistance Certification System (TRACS).
