{"id":28837,"date":"2023-10-03T14:43:48","date_gmt":"2023-10-03T18:43:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.carh.org\/?p=28837"},"modified":"2023-10-03T14:43:48","modified_gmt":"2023-10-03T18:43:48","slug":"hud-awards-160-1-million-in-grants-to-create-and-preserve-affordable-housing-for-low-income-seniors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.carh.org\/hud-awards-160-1-million-in-grants-to-create-and-preserve-affordable-housing-for-low-income-seniors\/","title":{"rendered":"HUD Awards $160.1 Million in Grants to Create and Preserve Affordable Housing for Low-Income Seniors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>On October 3, HUD&#8217;s Office of Housing sent out the following information below. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hud.gov\/press\/press_releases_media_advisories\/HUD_No_23_227\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Click here<\/strong><\/a> for the related Press Release:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Section 202 Award Announcement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dear Owners and Operators,<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">HUD\u2019s Office of Multifamily Housing announced the award of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">$160.1\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">million in grant funding to non-profit organizations across the country to support the development of new or redeveloped affordable multifamily rental housing and ongoing project rental assistance for low- income seniors through its\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hud.gov\/press\/press_releases_media_advisories\/HUD_No_23_227?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=govdelivery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FY 2022\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hud.gov\/press\/press_releases_media_advisories\/HUD_No_23_227?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=govdelivery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Section 202 Capital Advance NOFO<\/strong>.<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">In addition to the\u00a0$160.1\u00a0million that has been awarded, sponsors will leverage other funds to cover the difference between residents\u2019 contributions towards rents and costs of operating the 202 homes within the project\/property.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">These awarded grant funds will help construct and operate 1,262 new deeply rent-assisted homes for low- and very low-income seniors who will pay rent based on their income and help accommodate independent \u201caging-in-place,\u201d in safe housing with supportive services for residents, including access to healthcare.\u202f<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Several of the grantees will be creating mixed-income communities, building 526 additional affordable and market-rate homes as part of these funded projects, for a total of 1,788 homes.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On October 3, HUD&#8217;s Office of Housing sent out the following information below.
